In May 2025, Yoshiko visited a clinic after struggling with a persistent cough and severe pain. She was diagnosed with ROS1 fusion–positive non-small-cell lung adenocarcinoma—a cancer seen in only 1–2% of cases. At diagnosis, it had already reached Stage 3C with lymph-node metastasis, and later tests revealed she had suffered a stroke as well.She began first-line targeted therapy using a new medication costing roughly ¥5,000 per 100 mg capsule. Despite anxiety and side effects, she continued coaching with incredible strength and optimism.When metastases to her liver and bones were later discovered, she transitioned to second-line chemotherapy. Side effects included appetite loss, taste changes, weight loss, and bradycardia, yet she still continued coaching.In January 2026, scans showed her liver tumors had grown and tumor markers continued to rise. Chemotherapy was no longer effective. She now awaits third-line treatment, likely another new molecular-targeted drug that may cost nearly ¥30,000 per day.

2025年5月、咳の悪化と強い脚の痛みから受診した結果、美子さんはROS1融合遺伝子陽性非小細胞肺腺癌という、全体の1〜2％にしか見られない稀少ながんであると診断されました。診断時にはすでに胸部・頸部リンパ節への転移がありステージ3C、さらに検査によって脳梗塞も発症していたことが判明しました。一次治療では新しい分子標的薬（100mgあたり約5,000円）を用い、副作用への不安を抱えながらも、前向きにバレーボールコーチとしての活動を続けました。しかしその後、肝臓と骨への転移が見つかり二次治療の化学療法へ。食欲不振や味覚異常、体重減少、徐脈などに悩まされながらも、指導の現場に立ち続けました。2026年1月の検査では肝臓の腫瘍が増大し、腫瘍マーカーも上昇を続け、化学療法が奏功していないことが判明。現在は第三次治療に向けた準備段階であり、予想される分子標的薬は1日あたり約3万円の薬価となる可能性があります。
